Perini Building Company, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Perini Corporation (NYSE: PCR), announced today the award of a $462.8 million contract by the Mashantucket Pequots Tribal Nation for the construction of the 2 million-square-foot expansion of the Foxwoods Resort Casino in southeastern Connecticut. At present, Foxwoods is the largest resort casino in the world, with 340,000 square feet of gaming space and 1,400 luxury hotel rooms and suites in a complex that covers 4.7 million square feet. The expansion, designed by Paul Steelman Design Group of Las Vegas, features a 26-story, 825-room hotel tower and will emphasize non-gambling activities, including a 25,000-square-foot spa, 4,000-seat theater and 115,000 square feet of meeting and convention space. The new hotel will be the fourth hotel built since the resort was founded in 1986, and will bring the total number of rooms at Foxwoods Resort Casino to 2,240.
