Bottom has been in for months. It's been such a rough ride down from 60 that it's hard to see the bottom......even when your are sitting on it. I'm not selling either. I make some money or I lose it all and hate Li the rest of my life.

That math doesn't work....does it Frank? Tesla hasn't hit 2 million deliveries yet and they have been profitable for several years. To reach a 20% gross margin, a significant number of China new EV companies will need to fold. If NIO can hold on while one company a month drops out of competition, it may work out.

I'm with you Frank. I'm not here for the cars, I'm here for the battery swap. It's the only thing that makes sense for BEV's.

NIO and CATL merger is not out of the question to compete against the BYD business model.

They already have several established partnerships to expand battery technology and deliver it to more markets.

I guarantee you the Battery Asset Company and Mirattery isn’t suffering massive losses. NIO is paying them prime $$$ for their services.
Now he is selling off NIO Power to CATL. The billions he has pissed away could have been used to fund a NIO fully owned battery asset and battery asset management division of NIO. NIO will benefit little from the BaaS battery supply and management services.

My outlook was three years for BaaS to pay off.

If NIO continues selling its Battery Asset Company and NIO Power percentage of ownership their future earnings will be severely diminished.
My investment in NIO is based on Battery Swap and the BaaS model… not their vehicles.

The amount of revenue NIO will generate from these partnerships is impossible to determine. Everyone wants a piece of the most valuable assets NIO is creating.

The hype and tripe preemptive damage control put out by the company leading up to earnings isn’t a good sign either.
The NIO/CATL alliance was formed in 2020 with the Battery Assets Company. “CATL is currently advancing an investment capped at RMB 2.5 billion in NIO Power,..” The word capped is key. Meaning there is no set minimum.

What does this indicate about sales?

Nio has upgraded the benefits package for ET9 buyers. The “Worry-Free Power” benefit previously offered 20 free battery swaps per year for five years. It now provides six free swaps per month for ten years. The “Worry-Free Smart Travel” benefit initially included five years of free NOP+ (Nio Pilot Plus) full-domain navigation-assisted driving. This has also been extended to ten years.

These enhancements are in addition to existing benefits. These include three years of all-scenario driver service and three years of ET9 business travel pick-up and drop-off service. Customers get five years of free maintenance and vehicle pick-up/delivery for maintenance. Lifetime free on-site tire repair and roadside assistance are included. The vehicle comes with a six-year/150,000 km warranty. The electric powertrain has a ten-year unlimited mileage warranty. The total value of these benefits is stated to exceed 200,000 yuan (27,800 USD).

Power grid overload created by EV charging.
Everyone is saying the power grid can handle the growing demand. Everyone except the power companies. How will power companies respond to the increasing demand.

Existing grid infrastructure are not designed to handle the sudden and substantial increase in electricity demand from widespread EV charging

Peak hour quick charging increases the risk of grid overload and potential outages.

I'll admit that I dont know how Chinese public companies operate at the executive level, but if Li were in America, the board would have removed him long ago.

I think his behavior as of late is simply pre Q4 damage control. His ego can only be dealt with by others. I hope, after the failure of Firefly, those that can, will remove him. He seems to have NPD.

NIO Power is the only value Li has left to offer. What percentage of NIO will CATL acquire? The Government put up about $50 million for 5%. CATL will probably get %35-40? The Chinese government is about ready to hang him by his balls. What Li is doing is a matter of his survival… not just NIO’s.

Battery Swap is not competing with super fast charging. Battery swap is a solution to the inevitable grid collapse from super fast charging. Rather than spend billions on upgrading the power grid the Chinese energy companies and government sees battery swapping stations as the solution. Before the energy companies spend billions upgrading infrastructure they will raise rates for quick charging and peak charging per 1kW to discourage quick charging and peak hour charging. Power and energy are two different factors. The “power” transmission lines are limited in their capacity to deliver electricity.
Have some foresight people. Even Elon admits battery storage terminals will be needed to meet power grid demand as more EVs hit the road. Battery Swap Terminals are a necessity… not a luxury.
