Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) announced today that
two of its recent acquisitions were honored with 2012 Chief of
Engineers Awards of Excellence from the U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers (USACE).
In the environmental engineering category, Jacobs (formerly
Damon S. Williams Associates [DSWA]) won for the Tres Rios
Environmental Restoration Project in Salt River, Ariz., and in the
design category, KlingStubbins (now Jacobs) was an award recipient
for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency Campus East Project
in Springfield, Va.
The Tres Rios Environmental Restoration Project is a water
reclamation and reuse project funded by USACE and the City of
Phoenix Water Services Department. The project treats municipal
wastewater while simultaneously enabling large scale habitat
restoration and flood control, and in addition creates a space for
public recreation and environmental education. DSWA (now Jacobs)
served as design and construction engineer on the project, which
entailed moving over three million cubic yards of material around
the 580 acre site to create a wetland system providing over 450
acres of diverse aquatic and riparian habitat.
The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency Campus East Project
consolidated six Washington area sites to one campus in the Fort
Belvoir area in Springfield, Va.; and includes a main office
building, technology center, and central utilities plant.
KlingStubbins (now Jacobs) and RTKL Associates, Inc., its joint
venture partner on the project, successfully designed the facility
to meet a cultural transformation mandate and strict requirements
for sustainability, reliability, flexibility and expandability –
all constrained by stringent security criteria.
Jacobs President and Chief Executive Officer Craig Martin
stated, “We are pleased that in each of these projects, the
client’s needs were given priority and the results were
outstanding. Having the projects receive recognition beyond that
from the Army Corps of Engineers is a great honor.”
Both DSWA and KlingStubbins were acquired by Jacobs in 2011.
Martin adds, “Jacobs’ acquisition strategy for growth and
continuous improvement is exemplified by firms like DSWA and
KlingStubbins joining our Company, and bringing their unique
capabilities to further strengthen the value and range of expertise
we are able offer to our clients around the world.”
The USACE Chief’s Awards of Excellence Program, now in its 46th
year, recognizes the most innovative projects accomplished by USACE
teammates and its design and construction community.
Jacobs is one of the world's largest and most diverse providers
of technical, professional, and construction services.
