CRITICARE SYSTEMS, INC. (AMEX:CMD). Criticare Systems, Inc. today announced receipt of patent 6,923,847 on August 2, 2005 for a gas/liquid separator and filter referred to as a water trap. This device is used with the Criticare analyzer as well as in a number of other manufacturers products for both anesthesia applications and CO2 systems. The proprietary nature of the device was awarded fourteen claims concerning its design, construction and performance characteristics. The primary use of this invention is to remove and trap liquid from a respiratory gas sample. It has long been recognized that means must be provided for removing excess moisture from exhaled air prior to analysis. Criticare has been a pioneer in this field as evidenced by three prior issued patents for solving a wide variety of problems with gas/liquid separation and filtration in medical systems.
