T-Mobile US Inc. named Letitia Long to its board of directors this week, the company said Thursday.

Ms. Long will be tapped for the board's nominating and corporate governance committees, T-Mobile said. She will also serve as T-Mobile's national security director.

Ms. Long served as the director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, where she became the first woman to lead a major U.S. intelligence agency, T-Mobile said. She has also served as the deputy director of naval intelligence and has held other intelligence agency roles.

"As we continue to focus on our mission to be the best in the world at connecting customers to their world, we will continue to look to leaders like Tish to bring their diverse backgrounds, multifaceted experiences and in-depth knowledge to the table to help us bring that vision to life," Chief Executive Mike Slevert said in prepared remarks.
