PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Republic First Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ: FRBK), the holding company for Republic Bank, commemorated Small Business Saturday by surprising Hanna's Gourmet Kitchen in Haddonfield, NJ. On a day that helps small businesses gross $5.7 billion in a 24-hour period, Hanna's employees and customers were greeted by the executive team of Republic Bank, along with the staff of its Haddonfield store location, with prepared foods and many smiles on one of the busiest shopping days of the year.

"At the beginning of this holiday season, we felt it was important to re-affirm our loyalty and devotion to small businesses across our region in front of their own customers," said Harry Madonna, Chairman and CEO of Republic Bank. "Hanna's and the many other small businesses in our area are integral to the economic success of the Philadelphia and South Jersey region and we were thrilled to surprise their employees with encouragement from our own staff."

At the surprise celebration, Republic Bank staff, joined by its friendly mascot R Dog, gathered outside Hanna's Gourmet Kitchen, which offers fine herbs, spices and extracts, many times unavailable at large food markets, rallying the day's shoppers to support all small businesses, not just those in Haddonfield. To encourage customers to shop at the Haddonfield mainstay, each customer received a $10 Hanna's gift certificate, as well as an invitation to take advantage of the "Worth the Switch" program at Republic Bank. This program provides new customers a $20 bonus, when they open an "absolutely free" checking or savings account at Republic Bank.

Hanna's owner Monika Harris added, "Republic Bank's customer service is second-to-none and it is the main reason that I chose them as my bank. Through meeting the staff at community events, and just by walking by the store each day, I've gotten to know each and every friendly employee. For a very busy small business owner, being able to stop in on a Sunday makes completing my banking needs extremely convenient."

Republic Bank's Haddonfield location and its other 13 stores are open 7 days a week, 361 days a year, with extended lobby and drive-thru hours, providing customers with the longest hours of any bank in the area. The bank also offers absolutely free checking, free coin counting and access to more than 55,000 surcharge free ATMs worldwide.
