A group of Activision Blizzard Inc. employees said Thursday on
Twitter that they started distributing union authorization cards in
a bid to unionize under the U.S. National Labor Relations
Board.
ABK Alliance, which refers to Activision's three main
units--Activision Publishing, Blizzard Entertainment and King--also
said it was calling for a strike and encouraged workers throughout
the videogame industry to participate.
The group said it is seeking donations to a strike fund it
created via the crowdfunding service GoFundMe to provide financial
support to those who strike, as well as workers who were part of a
recent round of layoffs at Activision's Raven Software studio.
As of Friday morning, more than $225,900 has been raised from
more than 3,300 donors.
