Air Liquide SA said Monday that it has signed a 10-year power-purchase agreement to source renewable electricity for its activities in Spain as part of its goal to lower its carbon footprint.

The French industrial-gas supplier said it will source renewable energy equivalent to 15% of its current consumption for its activities in Spain. The energy will supply some of its industrial and medical gas-production assets in the country.

The company said the agreement is part of its aim to increase its purchase of renewable electricity by nearly 70% over the next five years in comparison with 2015 levels. It said the wind-generated electricity will reduce it carbon-dioxide emissions by 250,000 tons over the term of the agreement.
