Citgo Petroleum Corp. shut a crude unit Thursday located at the
East Plant of its Corpus Christi, Texas, refinery to repair a leak,
according to a filing with state environmental regulators. The leak
sparked a fire that and appears to have been isolated at the unit,
according to a report Friday morning by NBC affiliate KRIS-TV.
ConocoPhillips (COP) began Thursday evening maintenance on the
Unit 50 coker located at its Borger, Texas, refinery Thursday that
is expected to last two days, according to a filing with state
environmental regulators.
Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) said Thursday that production at its
Illinois refinery has been affected by the Enbridge Inc. (ENB,
ENB.T) pipeline disruption, but that the plant continues to operate
using alternative supplies.
Exxon's refinery in Baytown, Texas, reported Thursday that an
instrument malfunction caused flaring at a hydrocracker the prior
evening, according to a filing with state environmental
regulators.
Valero Energy Corp.'s (VLO) chief executive said Thursday the
company won't make a decision whether to restart its idled Aruba
refinery, undergoing maintenance activity, until late December or
January. In June the company said a 90-day turnaround had been
started and a decision would be made to restart if it was economic
to do so.
Valero's (VLO) refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas, is in the
process of restarting a hydrocracking unit, or HCU, that was shut
earlier this week for repairs, a company spokesman said
Thursday.
The Environmental Protection Agency said Thursday it is
investigating the release of certain chemicals, including benzene,
a known carcinogen, at a BP PLC (BP, BP.LN) plant in Texas City,
Texas, on April 6.
Tesoro Corp. (TSO) reiterated Thursday plans to restart its
Anacortes, Wash., refinery in early October.
Hess Corp. (HES) continues efforts to stem losses at the Hovensa
refinery located in St. Croix, the company's chief executive said
Thursday.
Frontier Oil Corp.'s (FTO) refinery in El Dorado, Kan.,
restarted three sulfur recovery units shortly after they were shut
by a thunderstorm Wednesday, a company spokeswoman said
Thursday.
Alon USA Energy Inc. (ALJ) reported emissions related to a
"maintenance event" at its Big Spring, Texas, refinery Thursday as
the SCOT unit was bypassed, according to a filing with state
environmental regulators.
