Barclays PLC said Monday that it is aiming to be net zero by
2050, aligning its financial activities with the goals and timeline
of the 2016 Paris Agreement.
The British lender said its alignment will start focusing on its
energy and power activities and then focus on the rest of them.
"Barclays will provide the transparent targets required to judge
its progress and will report on them regularly, starting from
2021," the bank said.
Shares at 0819 GMT were down 6.38 pence, or 6.6%, at 90.99
pence.
