The St. Joe Community Foundation Continues Grants From $1 Million Pledge Made After Hurricane Michael

The St. Joe Community Foundation (“Foundation”) continues to
provide grants from its $1 Million pledge towards relief efforts
for the region of Northwest Florida affected by Hurricane Michael.
The Foundation partners with local entities and government
officials who are recovering from the effects of the hurricane to
identify the greatest and most immediate needs within the
communities.
Of the $1 Million pledged towards relief and recovery efforts,
the Foundation has now approved grants totaling $411,570 to local
organizations in need. Recent grant awards include donations of
$25,000 each to the Florida State University Panama City Foundation
for the Seminole Emergency Relief Fund and the Gulf Coast State
College Foundation, both of which assist students, faculty and
staff with essential needs. Girls, Inc. also received a donation of
$25,000 to assist with restoration efforts of their Panama City
location. Longleaf Outreach received $7,500 to purchase appliances
and furniture for new women’s shelter locations after the previous
facilities were condemned due to the hurricane.
The Foundation also awarded $10,000 grants to each of the
following: Hope Panhandle, Inc., which provides supplies and hot
meals to residents and first responders, the City of Lynn Haven’s
Hurricane Michael Relief Fund to sponsor the City’s Hometown
Thanksgiving event, Anchorage Children’s Home to help offset rental
expenses for its Youth Homeless Transitional programs, the Lynn
Haven United Methodist Church and the First United Methodist Church
of Panama City, to purchase relief supplies and materials. The
First United Methodist Church of Panama City also received an
additional grant of $9,070 to purchase preschool classroom supplies
and scholarships helping to resume childcare activities allowing
many families the opportunity to return to work.
