ADRs End Higher; Alibaba Rises

International stocks trading in New York closed mostly higher
Friday.
The BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts rose 0.5%
to 152.20. The European index improved 0.4% to 140.50. The Asian
index increased 1% to 180.41. The Latin American index fell 0.1% to
253.80. The emerging-markets index rose 0.7% to 329.85.
Alibaba and Pearson were among those with ADRs that traded
actively.
Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. (BABA) says
it expects revenue to grow 60% in the next year, as its core
commerce business and cloud-computing business attracts more
customers. ADRs rose 3.5% to $188.89.
InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (IHG)--which owns the Crowne
Plaza and Holiday Inn brands--said revenue per available room
increased 3.5% on a comparable basis, and that it is confident in
the outlook for the year ahead. ADRs rose 1% to $64.10
Pearson PLC (PSON.LN) on Friday confirmed its earnings guidance
for 2018 after underlying revenue rose 1% in the first quarter.
ADRs rose 6.7% to $12.08.
