Motorola Mobility Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Motorola
Mobility, Inc. (NYSE: MMI), announced today the launch of the
Empowerment Grants program, an opportunity for non-profit
organizations to apply for funding to empower their communities.
The program addresses three areas of focus – education, health and
wellness and community.
The Empowerment Grants program supports and celebrates everyday
real-life efforts to leverage technology to build stronger
communities. Eligible non-profit organizations have the opportunity
to enhance their communities and close the digital divide with
technology-based training for teachers, mentors and community
leaders. Empowerment Grants will provide non-profit organizations
with funding to prepare the next generation for the 21st century by
exposing them to new and emerging technologies.

we can create a gateway for non-profit organizations to tap into

Who can Apply
Eligible applicants are dynamic community organizations that are
making a significant contribution to the social fabric of their
communities. Applicants must be a registered or incorporated 501(c)
(3) non-profit organization or a NCES school or school district;
have an operating budget under $5 million; can be an online program
based in the U.S., or a U.S. national program, or must be based in
the U.S. and serve communities in these states California,
Illinois, Massachusetts or Pennsylvania; and be an online or
national program aligned with funding priorities in the areas of
education, health and wellness and community.
How to Apply
Organizations can submit a written application online. In
addition, applicants are required to submit a 3-5 minute video
describing the program that is requesting funds for an Empowerment
Grant and how digital technology could be used to further enhance
that program. All videos must be uploaded to Motorola Foundation
YouTube site prior to submitting the written application.
Application Due Date
Applications for Empowerment Grants will be accepted through
Friday, July 15. Grantees will be
notified in September.
