WASHINGTON, Nov. 9, 2010 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris
Corporation (NYSE: HRS), an international communications and
information technology company, has been awarded the first option
on the Department of State Consular Affairs Support Services (CASS)
contract, valued at $40 million for
the one-year period. This is the first option award under
CASS, originally awarded in September
2009 as a one-year base contract with four option years.
This option brings the overall current value of the contract
to an estimated $76 million, with a
potential $196.5 million value if all
options are exercised.
Under the CASS contract, the Harris team is providing IT
installation, training and operational services to the U.S.
Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs to support the
Bureau's delivery of critical services to U.S. citizens
domestically and overseas, and facilitate foreign visitor travel to
the United States. Harris
directly provides IT services to include shipping and installing
equipment and applications; on-site system administration and
repair; training; technology upgrades; and help desk support to
over 270 domestic and international consular operations.
