XPO Logistics Inc. appointed its first chief diversity officer,
joining companies that have stepped up their pledges to address
racial inequities within their organizations.
Greenwich, Connecticut-based XPO, a cargo shipping and logistics
company with nearly 100,000 workers, said Tuesday that LaQuenta
Jacobs would fill the newly created role effective Aug. 3 and
report directly to the chief executive.
Ms. Jacobs joined XPO in 2018 as a Human Resources executive and
previously worked at Delta Air Lines Inc. and Home Depot Inc.,
among others.
The number of corporate diversity and inclusion officers has
grown this year amid mounting concerns about social justice
following the killing of George Floyd while in the custody of
Minneapolis police. General Electric Co., real-estate firm CBRE
Group Inc. and video chat service Zoom Video Communications Inc.
are among companies that have named chief diversity officers in
recent weeks.
