Business Wire
-- Center adding industrial and white goods motor control
capabilities Fairchild Semiconductor (NYSE: FCS), today announced
that its Global Power Resource(TM) power design and application lab
in Europe is expanding to provide complete system power solutions
for motion and motor control. Fairchild will invest in new
equipment as well as motion and motor control engineers at its
Furstenfeldbruck, Germany site. The center has already completed
more than 50 successful system power designs in its first eighteen
months, reducing part count requirements and increasing efficiency
in customer applications. "Customers value the total power system
designs we are able to give them and are seeking the same level of
solutions in other areas such as two- and three-phase motor
control, and motion control," said Ole-Petter Brusdal, Fairchild's
vice president of Sales and Marketing, Europe. "These address
industrial and consumer white goods applications - areas that are
growing quickly in Europe. As The Power Franchise(R), our strategy
is to constantly upgrade and extend the Global Power Resource
design and application labs to meet the needs of our customers." To
support the additional applications, Fairchild will significantly
invest to increase staff levels by 15% and add new test
instrumentation like additional three phase programmable power
sources, power analyzers and electronic loads to support higher
current levels and three-phase applications, including inverter
drives. The expanded team will offer customers specific design
experience in the motion and motor control domain. Fairchild's
power design and application lab in Fuerstenfeldbruck is resourced
with expertise and equipment targeted to provide comprehensive
power design solutions for electronic applications in the principal
European end markets - industrial, consumer and automotive. Led by
Dr. Michael Weirich, a PhD engineering manager with significant
power design experience, the center is supported by 16 highly
qualified systems and applications engineers together with four
component engineers. Able to turn around designs in as little as
two weeks, the center provides customers with fully engineered
solutions, including demo boards; detailed reports including
information for 'Bill-of-Materials' (BOMs) and turnkey designs,
providing CAD files that can be incorporated into their own
designs; and application notes. It is one of six such centers
operated by Fairchild, The Power Franchise, worldwide to develop
complete system power solutions in the computing, communications,
consumer, industrial, automotive and display segments. Fairchild
Semiconductor: Fairchild Semiconductor (NYSE: FCS) is the leading
global supplier of high performance power products critical to
today's leading electronic applications in the computing,
communications, consumer, industrial and automotive segments. As
