HSBC Mulls Exiting More Countries, Merging Asset Management Arm -Bloomberg

--HSBC is reviewing its operations in as many as a quarter of
the 67 countries it operates in, and is considering an exit or sale
from smaller consumer operations such as Bermuda, Malta, and
Uruguay, reports Bloomberg, citing unknown sources.
--HSBC is also looking at expanding its asset management unit as
an operation independent from its retail banking unit, potentially
via a merger with a rival, says Bloomberg.
--HSBC declined to comment to Bloomberg, except to say the bank
will update investors at, or before, its interim results.
