Established in 1984, Promise House combats youth homelessness
with unique programs that address the needs of homeless, runaway
and at-risk youth. The organization provides residential services,
including emergency shelter and long-term housing to youth in need.
Promise House programs develop critical life skills, personal
responsibility and financial independence, as well as offer a broad
continuum of health, education and counseling services.
Through its community outreach initiatives, Promise House
partners with physical and mental health care providers, state and
local agencies and schools to offer a range of services to
non-residential clients in crisis. Support includes food kits,
community counseling, parent education classes and case
management.
“More than 1,200 Dallas-area youth do not have a bed to sleep in
each night,” Woods said. “Promise House helps the most vulnerable
people in our community and guides them toward a brighter, more
promising future. We are proud to support them with this year’s
gift.”
“For years, ExxonMobil has been a dedicated partner in our
mission to end youth homelessness in North Texas,” said Dr. Ashley
Lind, chief executive officer of Promise House. “This gift will
help us provide hot meals, safe shelter, counseling, education
services and much more to our city’s most vulnerable young people.
ExxonMobil’s support will be critical as we expand to meet the
needs of a growing number of homeless children and teens in our
community.”
Created by ExxonMobil in 2006, the annual holiday gift supports
a North Texas nonprofit in continuing their important work. Recent
grant recipients include The Gatehouse, Jonathan’s Place, ACH Child
and Family Services, Grapevine Relief and Community Exchange and
Interfaith Housing Coalition.
