Ohio Virtual Academy to Hold In-Person Graduation Ceremony

Ohio Virtual Academy (OHVA), a full-time, tuition-free, online
public charter school for grades K-12, will celebrate the Class of
2017 at graduation on Saturday, June 3rd.
Maria Shappert is the Class of 2017 valedictorian and Madeline
Connolly and RaeAnn Jent are co-salutatorians. Shappert already
received her Associates in Business Management thanks to dual
enrollment and plans to attend Ohio Christian University. Connolly
plans to start at the University of Akron as a junior in the
Accounting program, also thanks to dual enrollment. Jent plans to
attend Cedarville University.
Collectively, OHVA’s 660 high school graduates report being
offered over $1.52M in college scholarships and say they have been
accepted the following colleges and universities: Ohio State
University, University of Akron, University of Toledo, Kent State
University, Cleveland State University, University of Cincinnati,
and the University of Dayton, among others.
OHVA offers a rigorous and engaging curriculum that includes
courses in language arts/English literature, math, science,
history, world languages, art and music, as well as elective and
Advanced Placement® courses for high school students.
State-certified teachers provide instruction, guidance and support,
and regularly interact with students and parents via email,
web-based classrooms, online discussions, phone and face-to-face
meetings.
The keynote speaker will be Darren Reed, K12’s Vice President of
School Leadership Development.
