Seagate Technology (NASDAQ:STX) was named a Thomson Reuters 2014
Top 100 Global Innovator, recognizing its achievements as one of
the world’s most innovative companies. The program, an initiative
of the IP & Science business of Thomson Reuters, honors the 100
corporations and institutions around the world that are at the
heart of innovation as measured by a series of proprietary
patent-related metrics. The full report is available at

The Thomson Reuters 2014 Top 100 Global Innovator methodology is
based on four principle criteria: overall patent volume, patent
grant success rate, global reach of the portfolio, and patent
influence as evidenced by citations.

intelligence collaboration platform. Comparative financial analysis
was done using the Thomson Reuters Advanced Analytics for
Deal-Making platform.

Thomson Reuters 2014 Top100 Global Innovators:
- For the fourth consecutive year the Top
100 Innovators outperformed the S&P 500 by achieving a
year-over-year market cap weighted revenue growth of 12.6 percent,
roughly double the 6.85 percent annual growth generated by S&P
500 companies.
- Collectively the Top 100 Innovators
generated the equivalent of U.S. $3.69 trillion in revenue last
year.
- R&D investment for the Top 100
organizations are more than double their NASDAQ counterparts; the
Top 100 increased R&D spend by 16.9 percent, whereas NASDAQ’s
R&D investment jumped by 8.18 percent and S&P by only 3.97
percent.
