Golf Tournament to be Held June 24, 2024, Aims to Raise $75,000 to Provide Health Insurance, Equipment, Uniforms, Travel Expenses for Special Olympians of Texas East Region, Area 4 in Galveston County

SCS Technologies (SCS), a leading provider of CO2 measurement systems, methane vapor recovery units and petroleum LACT units, today announced that the company is serving as a sponsor for the 2nd Annual Galveston Golf Tournament on June 24, 2024, benefiting the Special Olympic Athletes of Texas East Region, Area 4 in Galveston County. The tournament will be held at the Galveston Country Club and is open to the public. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 10:00 a.m.

“The Special Olympics are very dear to me, and it is a privilege to serve this community of committed and resilient athletes as they work towards their goals,” said Cody Johnson, CEO of SCS Technologies and member of the Advisory Board for the Special Olympics, Texas East Region, Area 4. “Last year’s tournament was a tremendous success, both in terms of fundraising and in boosting awareness for our local Special Olympics athletes. This year we expect more than 20 teams comprised of 80 players to join in the friendly but competitive day of golf in an effort to raise $75,000 needed to support these talented athletes.”

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. Special Olympics Texas is a year-round movement, holding more than 300 competitions annually on area, regional and state levels.
