Instagram LIVE event spotlighting transcranial
magnetic stimulation (TMS) set for May 17
As Mental Health Awareness Month kicks off today, Relief Mental
Health aims to spotlight innovative therapies that offer hope to
individuals struggling with mental health diagnoses.
In particular, the leading outpatient provider highlights
transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and psychedelics as
breakthrough therapies that can make a significant difference for
those who have not found relief through traditional methods.
TMS is a FDA-approved, non-invasive procedure that uses gentle
magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain, targeting
areas associated with mood regulation. Unlike traditional
treatments such as medication or therapy, TMS offers a novel
approach with no systemic side effects. It has shown promising
results in treating depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder
(OCD), and other diagnoses, offering hope and relief to individuals
who have not responded to other therapies.
SPRAVATO®, also known as esketamine, is a nasal spray medication
approved by the FDA for treatment-resistant depression. It works by
targeting the brain's glutamate system, which is believed to play a
role in mood regulation. As a rapid-acting antidepressant,
SPRAVATO® offers a new option for individuals who have not
experienced relief with conventional antidepressants. Its
innovative delivery method and efficacy have made it a valuable
addition to the treatment landscape for depression.
Ketamine, traditionally known as an anesthetic, has gained
recognition for its rapid and profound antidepressant effects when
administered in low doses via intravenous infusion. Ketamine acts
on neurotransmitter systems in the brain, leading to rapid
improvements in mood and alleviation of depressive symptoms. IV
ketamine infusions provide a promising alternative for individuals
who have not responded to other treatments or are in urgent need of
relief from severe depression, bipolar depression, PTSD, anxiety
and more.
"TMS, Spravato, and IV ketamine represent a new frontier in
mental health treatment, offering relief to those who have
struggled with traditional therapies,” said Teresa Poprawski, MD, a
neuropsychiatrist and chief medical officer at Relief Mental
Health. “We are committed to providing innovative, personalized
solutions that can truly make a difference in our patients'
lives."
In honor of Mental Health Month and to help educate the public
on the benefits of TMS specifically, Relief Mental Health is
hosting an Instagram Live event on Friday, May 17, at 10 a.m.
central time. The event will take place from one of Relief Mental
Health's TMS rooms at its Oak Brook clinic, providing viewers with
an inside look at this cutting-edge treatment for depression, OCD,
and more. Join Relief on its Instagram platform at
