Notification of directors' interests: Companies Act s329

The trustees of the Christian Salvesen PLC Qualifying Employee Share Ownership
Trust (the "QUEST") notified the Company on 30 March 2001 that they subscribed
for a total of 1,030,393 Christian Salvesen PLC ordinary shares on 30 March
2001 at a price of 118p per share.  Following this transaction, the trustees
of the QUEST hold a total of 1,030,393 Christian Salvesen PLC ordinary shares
in which E.J. Roderick and P.G.Aspden as directors of Christian Salvesen PLC
have an interest as potential beneficiaries. (The QUEST is a trust established
to distribute shares to employees of the Christian Salvesen Group on the
exercise of options granted under the Christian Salvesen PLC Savings-Related
Share Option Scheme 1997).
