             COMPLETION OF ACQUISITION OF DARFEUILLE ASSOCIES SA

Christian Salvesen PLC, the leading European logistics group, announces that
the acquisition of Darfeuille Associes SA ("Darfeuille"), a major French
industrial logistics group, was completed on 16 January 2001.

Conditional agreement regarding this acquisition was first announced to
shareholders on 28 November 2000.

Darfeuille provides logistics services to the French industrial marketplace.
The acquisition offers the opportunity to leverage the customer relationships
of both Salvesen and Darfeuille.  It will also allow the Group to offer a
fuller service to industrial customers in the UK, France, Spain, Portugal and
Germany and satisfy their increasing requirements for a single European
logistics outsource partner.
