S198-210A of the 1985 Companies Act, that Hill Samuel Asset Management Ltd and
Scottish Widows Investment Management Ltd combined, have a notifiable interest
of 11,078,413 shares in Christian Salvesen PLC, which represents 4.18 % of the
current issued share capital.

We are advised that this disclosure follows the aggregation of the funds of
Hill Samuel Asset Management Ltd and the funds of Scottish Widows Investment
Management Ltd, the combined asset management operation, to be named Scottish
Widows Investment Partnership Ltd.
