                 Christmas Trading Statement
                              
Partners Holdings PLC, the operator of 105 specialist retail
stationery stores, today announces details of its  Christmas
trading period.
                                         Like for Like sales
                                           Comparable stores
                                                    % change

6 weeks ended 26 December 1998                     + 4.3%

Christmas  sales were above earlier expectations, increasing
by  4.3% on a like for like basis.  However, this growth was
mainly  achieved  through aggressive promotional  activities
with a consequent cost to margins.

The  Company's "New Concept" stores have initially  produced
some  encouraging results and a number of other  initiatives
are also in progress.

The effects of these developments and Christmas trading will
not be sufficient however to reverse fully the disappointing
results of the first six months.

The  Board will review the appropriateness of paying a final
dividend in the light of our full year results due  in  June
1999.
