The Company received a notification dated 11 April 2006 from Coal Pension
Trustees informing it that, as at the close of business on 7 April 2006, the
British Coal Staff Superannuation Scheme held an interest in 5,703,407 ordinary
shares representing 3.01% of the issued share capital of the Company.
