KBC Advanced Technologies plc ('KBC' or the 'Company') announces that it was 
notified on January 23rd, 2006, that AXA Investment Managers UK Ltd, as a result 
of a purchase of 95,000 shares on January 20th, 2006, has a notifiable interest 
in 6,567,500 ordinary shares in KBC, representing 13.01% of the issued ordinary 
share capital of the Company.  These shares are represented by a  beneficial 
interest of 95,000 shares and a non-beneficial interest of 6,472,500 shares.

The shares are registered in the names of:

Framlington HSBC                                       6,165,350 ordinary shares
