Closing of Perstorp Surface Materials confirmed to March 31

Perstorp AB has previously confirmed that the sale of Perstorp Surface Materials
AB was agreed to close on March, 24, 2000.  For technical reasons, not related
to Perstorp, closing with the buyer, Decorative Surfaces Holding AB, did not
occur on said date.

However, the buyer and its owners, DLJ Merchant Banking Partners and CVC
European Equity Partners, have confirmed that all funds necessary for the
closure of the transaction are committed and available for closure on March 31,
2000 and that there are no conditions precedent to closure on said date.
