Sam’s Club® Encourages Americans to Take Preventive Health Measures as They Age

Free screenings available to the public on
Saturday, July 11 aim to help older population stay healthy
As the nation’s 50-and-older population continues to grow,
services that help prevent and detect potential health problems
early on become increasingly important. Yet, according to the
Center for Disease Control and Prevention, only 25 percent of
adults aged 50 to 64 years old are taking advantage of the
preventive services available to them.1 In an effort to increase
this number and provide a simple option, Sam’s Club is offering
free health screenings to both members and the public.
These health screenings are confidential and available at all
Sam’s Club locations with a pharmacy (608 locations) on Saturday,
July 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The screenings are valued at $1502
and include tests for:
- Blood pressure
- Total cholesterol
- HDL (good cholesterol)
- Risk ratio
- Glucose
- Body mass index (BMI)
“It’s important that as people age they take proactive health
steps so they can live long lives and help reduce their healthcare
costs,” said Jill Turner-Mitchael, senior vice president of Sam’s
Club Health and Wellness. “By offering these free screenings, we
hope to give older adults a chance to protect one of their most
valuable assets – their health.”
In addition to monthly health screenings, Sam’s Club Pharmacies
provide savings and preventive care to each community they serve,
such as year-round immunizations for children and adults.* Licensed
pharmacists can administer walk-in flu shots and nine other
important immunizations, including the MMR (measles, mumps,
rubella) vaccine. Sam’s Club Plus members and Sam’s Club Business
members can also save even more on prescriptions. To learn more
about these savings and immunizations offered, please visit

According to a J.D. Power 2014 U.S. Pharmacy Study,** Sam’s Club
Pharmacy was ranked “Highest in Customer Satisfaction with Mass
Merchandiser Pharmacies.” Additional information about Sam’s Club
