United Parcel Service Inc. (UPS) on Wednesday said it named Philippe Gilbert to the newly created post of president of supply chain solutions.

UPS said Mr. Gilbert, who will join its management committee, will be responsible for global logistics and distribution, global freight forwarding, UPS Freight, and the truckload freight brokerage business at Coyote.

UPS said Mr. Gilbert, who most recently served as CEO of the Americas for Deutsche Bahn AG's DB Schenker Logistics unit, will be based at its Atlanta headquarters, reporting to Chief Operating Officer Jim Barber.
