TORONTO-- Canaccord Genuity Group Inc.'s head of North American
energy research is leaving the dealer to join Citadel LLC's
Surveyor Capital, according to people familiar with the matter.
Phil Skolnick would remain based in New York and work as an
energy-stock research analyst for the big Chicago-based hedge
fund.
At Canaccord, Mr. Skolnick's coverage areas included Talisman
Energy Inc., Encana Corp. and Suncor Energy Inc. The dealer expects
to fill his position, according to a person familiar with the
matter.
Energy is a key sector for Canaccord and Canada's other major
dealers because of the industry group's heavy weighting on the
country's flagship Toronto Stock Exchange and the trading and
investment banking activity it generates for brokers.
