The Vonore, Tenn.-based company recently upgraded its technology
infrastructure with a variety of front- and back-office hardware
from Gateway, Inc. MasterCraft's 500 employees rely on Gateway
hardware as a critical component of their day-to-day success,
whether it involves the marketing team using Gateway plasma
displays at boating trade shows or the accounting department
crunching numbers on Gateway desktops. "Four years ago, Gateway won
our desktop business by offering a compelling price point,
three-year limited warranties and solid customer support," said
David Kirkland, director of IT, MasterCraft Boat Co. "As our
relationship strengthened, Gateway's customer service staff became
a strategic partner, providing key technical insight and advice
when and where we needed it. We recently decided to build out our
infrastructure with Gateway server products in the back-office, and
we'll continue to expand with Gateway technology as we grow." To
date, MasterCraft has standardized on: * 175 Gateway(R) E-Series
desktops, featuring Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 processors, 512 MB of
RAM, as well as standard 40 GB hard drives(1) and three-year
limited warranties(2). * Two Gateway(R) 920 Series tower servers,
featuring Intel(R) Celeron(R) or Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 processors,
PC3200 ECC memory, integrated RAID 0/1 capabilities and Gateway
Server Manager (GSM) software powered by LANDesk technology. * Two
Gateway(R) 975 Series rackmount servers, featuring dual, 2.4-GHz
Intel(R) Xeon(R) processors, 512 MB of ECC DDR memory, a 36 GB
Ultra320 SCSI hot-swappable hard drive(1) and GSM software. * Two
Gateway(R) 980 Series tower servers, featuring dual Intel(R)
Xeon(R) 1.8GHz processors (up to 2.4GHz supported) plus 256MB of
double data RAM and six PCI slots, four of which use PCIx
connectivity technology, 18 GB, 36 GB and 73 GB SCSI hot-swappable
hard drives at 10,000 rpm(1), with dual channel controllers or RAID
controllers. * Three Gateway(R) 42" Plasma Displays, featuring a
wide-screen flat plasma monitor, advanced digital image processing,
16:9 aspect ratio, picture-in-picture and picture-on-picture,
Integrated NTSC Tuner, 160 degree viewing angle and a one-year
limited warranty(2). "MasterCraft Boats' use of both front- and
back-office Gateway products is another example of how Gateway is
meeting the needs of the mid-enterprise market," said Steve
McAllister, Gateway's vice president of mid-enterprise. "We're
pleased to be able to deliver a portfolio of business solutions to
customers that help them reduce support costs, maintain continuity
and focus on the core competencies of their respective businesses."
