Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) reported a gasket leak that led to gas
emissions at its refinery in Baytown, Texas.
"Gasket leak on product coalescer drum resulted in emissions to
atmosphere," the refinery said in a statement to the Texas
Commission on Environmental Quality, noting the emissions happened
Tuesday and lasted less than an hour. It said the incident happened
at a hydrofining unit.
"The event has ended. There is minimal impact to production,"
Exxon said. "We expect to meet our contractual commitment."
The 561,000 barrel-a-day refinery is located about 25 miles east
of Houston.
