Blackstone Group Inc. (BX) on Monday said it named John Stecher chief technology officer, effective Feb. 24.

Blackstone said Mr. Stecher, who had been chief technology officer and group chief innovation officer at Barclays PLC (BCS), will lead its global technology organization and help advise the firm's investing teams and portfolio companies on technology-related matters.

The New York investment firm said Mr. Stecher succeeds Bill Murphy, who will continue to serve as a senior adviser and will remain on the boards of various portfolio companies.
