SRS Labs Promotes Maria Oppegard to Chief Accounting Officer

SRS Labs (NASDAQ:SRSL), the industry leader in surround sound, audio enhancement, and voice post-processing technologies, announced today that Maria Oppegard, the company’s Corporate Controller, has been promoted to the position of Chief Accounting Officer. Maria has more than 13 years experience in accounting for public companies and has been with SRS Labs since 2005.

Over the past six years, Ms. Oppegard has served as the company’s Corporate Controller and as its acting principal financial officer since August 2011 until Mr. McBride’s appointment as the company’s Chief Financial Officer. During her tenure, Ms. Oppegard has been instrumental in establishing a royalty compliance program, which has resulted in the identification and recovery of millions of dollars of underreported royalties and securing new, long-term, multi-million dollar license agreements with key customers. Ms. Oppegard has also played a significant role in the company’s global expansion, by assisting with the formation of the company’s wholly-owned subsidiaries in Shenzhen and Shanghai, China and in Tokyo, Japan and managing their on-going financial operations. During her tenure, Ms. Oppegard also led the successful implementation of the Company’s internal controls over financial reporting. Prior to working for SRS Labs, Ms. Oppegard spent six years at KPMG LLP, where she was an Audit Manager, providing audit services primarily for public companies in the technology, telecommunications and software industries.

Ms. Oppegard earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her master’s degree in accountancy from Wake Forest University. Additionally, Ms. Oppegard is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of CPAs, California Society of CPAs and Financial Executives International and serves on the board of directors for 3D Audio Alliance, a non-profit organization.
