PALO ALTO, Calif., Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Affymax, Inc. a clinical-stage pharmaceutical company, today announced the appointment of Daniel K. Spiegelman to the Company's board of directors. Mr. Spiegelman is currently senior vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) of CV Therapeutics (NASDAQ:CVTX), a position he has held since 1999. "Dan Spiegelman has an extensive background in the financial and commercial issues facing growing biotechnology companies, and he is an important addition to Affymax's board. He has helped CV Therapeutics raise more than $1 billion in financing and has overseen its transition from an R&D-focused company into a commercial entity with two approved products and approximately 700 employees," said Arlene M. Morris, president and chief executive officer of Affymax.
