Wildfire Update From Escondido Humane Society ESCONDIDO, Calif., Oct. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The Escondido Humane Society announced today that the society had to evacuate the shelter on East Valley Parkway and Lake Woolford Road, Escondido, late Sunday afternoon. All animals are safe and have been evacuated to a city-owned property at Washington and Ash, in downtown Escondido, a society spokesperson said. Residents who are missing animals are asked to go to the new, temporary location at Washington and Ash. If any resident needs the assistance of animal control services, provided by the Humane Society, please call the Escondido Police Department, 760-839-4990, and your call will be routed to animal control officers. The society's catchment area includes Valley Center, Escondido, San Marcos, Vista, Poway, and Rancho Bernardo. In addition, if any residents have been displaced from their homes and have animals, these residents can bring their animals to the temporary shelter at Washington and Ash. Housing for residents is being handled by the American Red Cross, 619-542-7400. Red Cross officials will direct callers to the closest shelter. At this time, Escondido Humane Society said it does not need any supplies from residents and thanks residents for their generous support.
