Matts' Comes Out of Its Shell Restaurant Hosts First Annual Shuckfest, Saturday November 1 From 3-9 p.m. REDMOND, Wash., Oct. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Last year, just launching a rotisserie and oyster lounge in Redmond was a big first. This year, Matts' Rotisserie & Oyster Lounge is taking it a step further by celebrating its first "Shuckfest" on Saturday, Nov. 1 from 3 to 9 p.m. Not content to just hold business indoors, owners are taking the party outside, capturing the attention of shoppers on the second level of Redmond Town Center. To keep things heated up, the event will be held completely under cover with heaters to thwart the fall chill. A modest $30 per individual guest all the shellfish they can eat plus three scrip for beer or wine. Lest we forget, the star of the show is oysters: juicy, big "Hood Canal" Beach Style Oysters being cooked outside, which makes this event, not just fun, but delicious, too. Shellfish have a way of reeling in the right people. Local celebrities, retailers and restaurateurs will file into Redmond on the day of Shuckfest to partake in the Oyster Slurping and Shucking Competitions, Jeff Renner of KING TV and Penny Legate (and family) from KIRO TV have signed on to slurp. Competitions will begin at 5 p.m. Rounding out this fine food affair, authors such as Cynthia Nims will appear with her books from the Northwest Homegrown Cookbook series Crab; and Stonefruit, both available for purchase. Noting Shuckfest as a first for the area, part of the festivities also include Redmond Mayor Rosemarie M. Ives' "Matts' Oyster Day" decree reading. The restaurant has forged an alliance with the Pacific Coast Shellfish Growers Association, which will have a booth to educate the public. A T-shirt sale at Shuckfest will benefit the organization. The monies raised will go toward restoring the water quality in bays where shellfish are grown. Matts' Rotisserie & Oyster Lounge is located at 16551 NE 74th Street, on the second floor of Redmond Town Center. Reserve and pre-pay your Shuckfest space by reaching the restaurant at 425-376-0909.
