RE: DRILLSHIP MOVING TO BANDA PROSPECT,
OFFSHORE MAURITANIA
Dear Sir/Madam
Hardman Resources Ltd ("Hardman") announces that the drillship Deepwater
Discovery has moved to the Banda Prospect (Block A) where the planned
exploration well will be spudded in the next few days. The Chinguetti 4-2 well
has been temporarily suspended due to mechanical problems with the production
testing equipment and the drilling of Banda will avoid rig downtime while the
faulty equipment is replaced.
Evaluation of the Chinguetti Field will continue after drilling the Banda well,
when the rig will return to complete the testing program on the Chinguetti 4-2
well.
Hardman's Managing Director Ted Ellyard commented:
"The delay in completing testing of the Chinguetti 4-2 well due to mechanical
problems will not have an impact on the overall project schedule as this
drilling campaign began earlier than expected. The first well has proved that a
significant oil column is present on the up thrown side of the field.
We have been very satisfied with the results of the first production test.
Hardman's preliminary interpretation of the test data gives us confidence that
these are very good reservoir sands and that much higher flow rates can be
achieved from these sands in production wells with appropriately designed
completions.
We are looking forward to returning to the Chinguetti Field to continue the
appraisal programme after drilling the Banda prospect. The Banda well is
targeting the same sand system as that which is the oil reservoir at Chinguetti.
Hardman estimates mean potential reserves of 290 million barrels recoverable
at Banda, which is only 21 kilometres inshore from Chinguetti in shallower
water."
