Prudential Financial Inc. has reached a deal to sell its life-insurance business in Taiwan, Prudential Life Insurance Company of Taiwan Inc., to Taishin Financial Holding Co. Ltd., Prudential said Tuesday.

Prudential of Taiwan, established in 1989, focuses on middle-market and affluent insurance customers, according to Prudential. The sale is part of Prudential Financial's strategy to focus its international efforts on Japan and on high-growth emerging markets, the company said.

Prudential's asset-management business, PGIM, will stay active in Taiwan through its PGIM SITE subsidiary, Prudential said.
