MyPlate program
Kohl’s (NYSE: KSS) announced today, in support of its overall
commitment to family health and wellness, a donation of $750,000 to
Hunger Task Force, ensuring a steady supply of healthy food to
Milwaukee-area families. Through Kohl’s donation and the expansion
of the Hunger Task Force MyPlate program – a healthy eating model
based upon USDA nutrition recommendations – the nearly 50,000
Milwaukee-area residents Hunger Task Force serves monthly will be
provided the right types and portions of foods to consume daily to
improve their health and wellness. Additionally, Kohl’s donation
will support Hunger Task Force in converting nearly 10 additional
pantries in the Hunger Task Force network to MyPlate pantries,
increasing the total number of MyPlate pantries to 45.
With Kohl’s support, Hunger Task Force will also serve
approximately 65,000 nutritious meals for low-income Milwaukee
children during the summer as they lose access to breakfast and
lunch served at school or daycare. These meals will be served at
kid-friendly public settings around the Milwaukee area including
public parks, youth camps, and recreational programs. In addition,
healthy meals and snacks will be served at after-school meal
programs during the academic year through the Child and Adult Care
Food Program.
“Kohl’s is proud to continue its partnership with Hunger Task
Force, thereby continuing to provide nutritious, healthy food to
Milwaukee-area children and families,” said Jen Johnson, Kohl’s
senior vice president of communications. “We commend Hunger Task
Force for the work they are doing to significantly enhance the way
that hunger relief is approached in the community.”
“Through Kohl’s generous support, Hunger Task Force is able to
provide hundreds of thousands of pounds of healthy food and expand
our MyPlate program with the addition of nearly 10 pantries in the
Hunger Task Force network, increasing the availability of
nutritious food for Milwaukee families in need,” said Sherrie
Tussler, Hunger Task Force executive director. “We thank Kohl’s for
valuing our community’s youth and helping them to learn, grow and
play free of hunger.”
Since 2009, Kohl's and Kohl's Cares have committed more than
$7.6 million to Hunger Task Force. To learn more about Kohl’s
