KBR (NYSE: KBR) – KBR announced that its Building Group has been
awarded a $25 million contract for the construction of the
Lancaster County Courthouse in Lancaster, South Carolina. Lancaster
is located approximately 40 miles south of Charlotte, North
Carolina. Construction on the project has begun and completion is
expected in April 2011.
Lancaster County's new 100,000-square-foot courthouse will house
four courtrooms, jury deliberation rooms, lobby space, storage for
court records, office and support areas, and secure facilities. The
third floor will include unfinished space for future expansion. The
original courthouse in Lancaster was constructed in 1828.
“This project, which is very important to the Lancaster
community, is a significant and sizeable win for KBR and the
Building Group,” said Luther Cochrane, Senior Vice President, KBR
and Chairman of the Building Group. “We look forward to the
successful construction of the new courthouse and to providing a
facility that will effectively serve the Lancaster community for
many years to come.”
Designed by Stevens & Wilkinson of South Carolina, the new
courthouse is planned to achieve LEED certification.
