Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS), an international communications

nine initial sites. These system upgrades will ensure mission
readiness for the Air National Guard when called upon for homeland
defense and disaster response.
Under this contract, the Harris team will perform site surveys,
design, installation and certification to upgrade major
communications subsystems and their respective infrastructure in
accordance with the Air Force Combat Information Transport System
(CITS) standards. Harris already provides similar IT services
at nine other Air National Guard locations.
"This core communications systems upgrade is yet another key
contract for Harris as a trusted IT integrator and mission partner
with the Air National Guard," said Mike
Deloney, vice president and general manager, Department of
Defense Programs, Harris IT Services.
The Harris-led team includes subcontractors Trans-Tel Central,
Inc., and McNeal Pro. The
project was awarded under the Network-Centric Solutions (NETCENTS)
contract vehicle.
The Air National Guard is one of the seven Reserve components of
the United States armed forces
that augment the active components in the performance of their
missions. The ANG has both a federal and state mission. The
Guard's federal mission is to maintain well-trained, well-equipped
units available for prompt mobilization during war and provide
assistance during national emergencies (such as natural disasters
or civil disturbances). When Guard units are not mobilized or
under federal control, they report to the governor of their
respective state, territory, or district, providing for protection
of life and property, and preservation of peace, order and public
safety.
