Fidelity National Information Services Inc.'s chairman and chief executive is leaving the company, and the new leadership is beginning a comprehensive assessment of strategy and operations.

Gary Norcross, who held the jobs for more than a year, had been slated to move into the job of executive chairman on Jan. 1.

On Thursday, the financial services technology company said President Stephanie Ferris, whom it had tapped in October to be its next CEO, would start her new job on Friday and Mr. Norcross is leaving the board.

FIS said it appointed lead independent director Jeffrey Goldstein as chairman of the board.

Ms. Ferris and the board will lead the assessment, which will focus on identifying and optimizing incremental revenue generation, margin improvement and cost-reduction opportunities, FIS said.

The review will also evaluate the company's business structures and portfolio of assets to ensure optimal configuration and deliver the greatest results for clients and shareholders, the company added.
