Bank of America Corp. (BAC) said it hired AllianceBernstein Holding LP's (AB) Lisa Shalett as Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management's chief investment officer and head of Investment Management and Guidance.

She succeeds Michael O'Keeffe, who left three weeks ago, according to a Bank of America spokeswoman.

At AllianceBerstein, Shalett was head of global growth equities. There, she managed all growth-style equity mandates and helped direct and oversee product platforms and portfolios across the institutional, retail and private clients. Before that she oversaw global research, sales and trading at Sanford C. Bernstein & Co.

Her immediate superior--Kunal S. Kamlani, who heads Global Investment Solutions--lauded her "intellectual acumen and proven leadership skills." He also noted her experience with fundamental and quantitative research.

Bank of America shares were down 0.2% at $14.12 in after-hours trading.
