LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa.,
June 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Air
Products (NYSE: APD) today announced the release of its 2010
Sustainability Report, which is available at
www.airproducts.com/Responsibility/2010AnnualReport.htm. For the
first time, the company's Report was prepared using the Global
Reporting Initiative (GRI) G3 guidelines, a voluntary framework
used by organizations worldwide to measure and report their
economic, environmental and social performance.
"By adopting the GRI framework in our reporting this year, our
goal is to provide the information of most significance to our
stakeholders so they can more easily locate and assess our
sustainability impacts, risks and opportunities," noted
Pat Loughlin, vice president,
Environment Health Safety and Quality and chair of Air Products'
Sustainability Council.
Presented in electronic format through an interactive PDF and
clickable GRI Index, the Report speaks to the company's priorities
around sustainability and key accomplishments and challenges,
including updates on performance against emissions, energy, waste
and water targets; employee safety, diversity and inclusion, and
training initiatives; stakeholder engagement, including community
involvement and customer relationships; and more.
The Report begins with Chairman, President and Chief Executive
Officer John McGlade's message to
stakeholders, which addresses the company's sustainability value
proposition and improvement strategies.
"As we prepare to mark the 70th anniversary of Air Products this
year, global macro trends driven by societal demands, legislative
changes and demographic shifts are providing even more
opportunities to apply our solutions to pressing energy,
environmental and emerging market needs," McGlade says. "As our
potential growth opportunities have strengthened, so too has our
commitment to drive continued improvements in our own
sustainability performance."
