Cintas Corporation in Union, NJ recently became the first company in Union and the first Cintas facility located in federal OSHA jurisdiction to receive Safety & Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) certification. The ceremony, plaque and flag presentation was held on Friday, November 4th at the facility located at 546 Green Lane in Union.

SHARP is OSHA’s official recognition of employers that have eliminated OSHA hazards, established effective safety and health management programs and have maintained injury rates below national averages. Acceptance into the program begins at the company’s request and took Cintas more than a year to complete.

“This recognition is not the end of our commitment to safety, it’s just the beginning,” said Mike Palo, General Manager. “A lot of hard work, commitment and consistency of our safety vision has resulted in obtaining this recognition, and today is a celebration of what our Cintas employee-partners have achieved,” he added.

During the ceremony, Justin Baker, Assistant Chief of Safety, New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development presented the facility and its approximately 190 employee-partners with OSHA’s official SHARP flag as well as a plaque of achievement. He also presented the employee-partners with a letter from New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

“I join with the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development in commending Cintas Corporation on its efforts to promote a safe working environment for its employees and I thank the company for contributing to the economic vitality of our state,” Gov. Christie said in the letter.

“To make a program like this work, it takes participation from everybody and it takes commitment from the top level management down,” said Joe Florio, Mayor of Union. “I congratulate you again for the great job you’ve done,” he added.
