Cintas Corporation (Nasdaq:CTAS) was recently named the number one employer in Canada by Report on Business Magazine, a monthly publication in Canada's Globe and Mail news. The recognition marks the company's first top-place finish and second top-five finish on the magazine's "50 Best Employers List" since 2004. To identify Canada's 50 best companies to work for, Report on Business commissioned Hewitt Associates to survey leading businesses from across the country. More than 100,000 employees from 137 companies participated in the research. According to Steve Brearton, Toronto-based writer and researcher in the December, 2005 edition of Report on Business Magazine, "No employer on this year's list ranked as consistently high as Cintas Canada in Hewitt Associates' 15 subcategories of workplace excellence." Cintas ranked among the top three employers in 14 of the 15 categories, including pay practices and physical work environment. "The Cintas culture attracts people who want to work for a company that embraces team values - a place where open communication creates a great work environment and career opportunities," said Cintas CEO, Scott Farmer. "This recognition is a testament to the values that make Cintas successful at all of our locations across North America." Cintas employs approximately 1,650 people at 17 locations throughout Canada, and 30,000 in North America. In order to participate in the study, companies must have operated in Canada for at least three years with a minimum of 400 fulltime employees. Both employees and managers were surveyed by Hewitt Associates. Employee surveys were used to determine the rankings, and management surveys were used to help analyze the results. In addition to Report on Business Magazine, BC Business Magazine listed Cintas among British Columbia's top 10 employers for the third consecutive year in December of 2005, and Fortune Magazine listed Cintas among America's "Most Admired Companies" for the fifth consecutive year in 2005.
