Capital of the South – celebrates 50 golden and thrilling years on
June 16.

The Dahlonega Mine Train was one of two
roller coasters to open at Six Flags Over Georgia in 1967. The
coaster still runs today at the park, just outside of Atlanta.

“Six Flags Over Georgia holds a special place in the hearts of

The park is celebrating the special occasion with a number of
in-park events for guests and team members, including:
- Opening the park Promenade and popular
Georgia Cyclone roller coaster an hour early at 9:30 a.m. EDT;
- A Grand Opening celebration for the
company’s flagship 4,000 square foot Coaster Candy store with
costumed characters, balloon artists and more;
- A park opening celebration with state
and local tourism leaders presenting a proclamation marking June
16, 2017 as Six Flags Over Georgia Day in the State of
Georgia;
- A look back over the past 50 years of
thrills with the all-new “Can’t Stop The Feeling – 50 Years of
Music and Memories” show in the historic Crystal Pistol Music Hall;
and
- A tribute to former and current
employees with a special Anniversary Party and after-hours ride
time on several of the park's most popular rides and
attractions.
On this special day, Six Flags Over Georgia is also celebrating
the innovations from the past 50 years, including the all-new
JUSTICE LEAGUE: Battle For Metropolis 4D high-action ride,
which opened this season.
